HOW WILL THIS WAR AFFECT KURDISTAN?

Fuad Önen November 07, 2023 11:14
It is difficult to understand the Israel or Netanyahu-Hamas war without drawing a general framework. On the surface, it is a war between Netanyahu and Hamas. If we take it one step further, it is a war between Israel and Gaza. It has not yet turned into an Israeli-Palestinian war. Because Palestinians are two and a half states. Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem. East Jerusalem is now completely under Israeli control. The West Bank is not participating in this war, but what seens on the field, the forces who are thirdworldwar fans, are there and if you pay attention, they have started to take sides on the Palestine-Israel issue. So today, the whole world can fit inside Gaza.

USA has plans in Gaza. Russia has plans, Iran and Turkey have plans and the forces they support. There is USA, there are European countries, there is China. In my opinion, in today’s world, it is like Gaza; Even though it is an area of 360 square kilometers, it is not possible to understand it outside the perspective of this is world war. Because this is a World War spread over time. It is assumed to last 60 to 70 years and is concentrated in a certain region each time. It started in the Balkans. It spread to Afghanistan, to Iraq, to Libya, and it concentrates in certain regions at various time intervals, such as Egypt, Syria, Yemen and Tunisia.

Therefore, we can only understand the war going on in Gaza from the perspective of this war. This is not just a war between Hamas and Netanyahu. Now, we look at this from Kurdistan and evaluate the events happening all over the world from a Kurdish perspective. I think we should do so.

Therefore, here it is; I think it was the Israeli prime minister: “The borders will change in the Middle East.” said. This caused excitement among Kurdish politicians and Kurdish educated people. When Israel says that the borders of the Middle East will change, what it means in this conjuncture is the borders of the states around it. Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon.

Kurdistan is not a Middle Eastern country, but a Near Eastern country. If this war spreads, there is a possibility that it will spread, but it is not very likely in my opinion. If it spreads, the Kurdish side needs to have a plan, discuss what to do when the war spreads and agree on a common strategic goal. If we can achieve this we can intervene in this war with resorses we have.

Each party, within the framework of its own party program; If each part approaches with the perspective of liberation of its own part, we cannot achieve our main goals in this Third World War period, even if the war spreads. Therefore, I look at it from here, I look at the war in Gaza from here.

Another matter is the issue of terror-terrorism. Frankly, I use this concept very little. I think it is not functional. In other words, one side says that Israel practices state terrorism. The other side says that Hamas is a terrorist organization. What we now call terrorism; It is an attempt to impose one’s will on the other person by showing or using force or weapons. When we look at it this way, all states in the world are terrorists. Because states have a monopoly on weapons and they maintain their power by either demonstrating or both demonstrating and using this armed power. Therefore, this concept no longer has any explanatory feature. There is an ongoing political struggle. Both sides use violence. What we can do is evaluate these intensities.

Hamas is not the only representative of the Palestinian people. Netanyahu is not the only representative of the Israeli people, the State of Israel. These two sides do not comply with the laws of war. Both sides see all living beings on the other side as legitimate targets. This is not in accordance with the law of war or the morality of war.

Now we insistently ask Kurdish politicians and Kurdish intellectuals: “What do you think about this war?” Questions are asked and both Kurdish politicians and Kurdish intellectuals feel obliged to say something about this issue. After all; This Palestinian-Israeli conflict is a 75-year conflict.

Kurds have been fighting for national liberation for 150 years. No Palestinian newspaper; have had intentions to ask Palestinian leaders: “What do you think about the Kurdistan issue? “ What is your stance on the Kurdistan issue? ” Neither does the world ask them nor they are asking each other. In their rarely made statements, especially recent Palestinian politicians says that they are against the statehood of Kurdistan.

This is partly due to the national inferiority complex. So this war is not our war. It is an ongoing war between a state, the state of Israel, and a semi-state. In my opinion, both the Hebrew people and the Palestinian people have the right to establish their own state and govern themselves. But there are those on both sides who object to this. So Netanyahu; The Palestinians do not want a state to be formed on the pre-67 borders. Hamas also does not want Israel to remain a state

Therefore, we are not a party to this war.

We can make an assessment about this ongoing war and the main thing is; How will this war affect Kurdistan? What kind of preparations should Kurdistan politics do on this issue? What kind of preparations should be made, not just evaluations? If this war spreads, it will extend to Iran, Lebanon and Syria. There is also the Turkish side. What is really important for us is where will Turkey take part in this war?
We need to evaluate these and discuss them around the question of what we should do. Unless we do this, we cannot benefit from the opportunities that this war will create.

No-fly zone problem

A no-fly zone is not on the world’s agenda. Look, no matter how much you criticize Hamas; Indeed, there were actions against civilian Israelis that were inconsistent with revolutionary violence and inconsistent with the ordinary laws of war. But so far it is Hamas that has won politically.

So today; Everyone, including the US President, the Russian President, the Chinese President and the Turkish President, believes that the solution is two-state; They say it is in Palestine, in the state of Israel. This is a political success. Kurdistan politicians should take this as a basis.

So we use this no-fly zone, for example; In Southwestern Kurdistan, where will we ask for it? Currently, the concept of southwestern Kurdistan is rarely used by the dominant politics in the region. Northeast Syria, for example, will we advocate that Raqqa be in this no-fly zone?

First of all, Kurdistan politics must protect its national borders. So in the beginning, in 2011; When the war started in Syria, its name was Rojava.

We insisted previously that the name should not be Rojava! We said it should be said “Rojavayê Kurdistanê” (weastern Kurdistan), but it was said Rojava. This is how it was introduced to the world in the fight against ISIS. But since 2016-2017, the name is no longer Rojava. It is called Northeast Syria. This; There, it means that Kurdish politics does not protect its national borders.

Our national borders in Southern Kurdistan are clear, but they have not yet been accepted by the Iraqi state. And just like the Israel-Palestine issue, the United Nations has no decision on this. What are the borders separating Iraq from Kurdistan? As you know, 45% of the territory of Central-South Kurdistan has been declared as disputed territory and has been under the occupation of the Iraqi state and Hashd al-Shaabi since 2017.

Therefore, our no-fly zone; As Kurdish politicians, Kurdish intellectuals and Kurdish people in the four parts of Kurdistan and all over the world, we have to insist on these national borders, and first of all cliryfy for our selvs, our national borders and then demand from there. Without this clarity, any statement to be made in the Little South or Southwest Kurdistan; will result; the south and west of Syria will be divided into the north and east of Syria. A Kurdish political demand does not arise from this.

Kurdish politicians in South Central Kurdistan, we have a parliament and a government there. They need to bring the so-called Article 140 to the agenda and clarify national borders as soon as possible.

What is important now is Turkey’s attitude. So Iran’s stance is more or less clear. It is a general acceptance that Iran is behind this Hamas operation. Türkiye tries to maneuver. At first, they made moderate statements and attempted to mediate, but when the Arab side in Israel did not accept this, Erdogan gradually hardened his language and said today: “I will declare Israel to the world as a war criminal.” He was saying something like that.

Now we have to ask this. In my opinion, if the war expands, Turkey’s presence on the Eurasian front will be positive for Kurdish politics and Kurdish goals. Türkiye and Iran are the two sub-imperial countries of the region; When these two sub-imperial countries are on different fronts, this difference is reflected in Kurdistan politics and it becomes difficult to achieve unity in a common strategic goal. But if Türkiye is on the Eurasian front, recent statements indicate that. In this situation; The stance that Kurdistan parties will take, even if they have to, it is clear where. Because this front, namely Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Hamas, is a front that targets the existence of Kurdistan. It is out of the question for us to form any kind of strategic alliance with this front. I think the enemy’s unity necessitates our unity. This is open to debate. So I say these to discuss together.

Now, “What is the solution in war?” If you ask me. The solution in this war actually lies with the Israelis. So, Netanyahu is not the sole representative of all Israel. For example, the Israeli Communist Party made a statement and said that the Gaza operation was an ethnic cleansing.

Today, a Jewish group in the United States: They demonstrated, made a statement and described Israel’s action as “genocide”. If the war expands and the main actors of this world war participate indirectly rather than directly, what will be done is; Revolutionaries in every country declare war against their own governments. Apart from this, all solutions will be temporary solutions.

So We need to object to this established order both in the region and in the world. We need to explain that there will be no permanent solution within the political boundaries drawn by this order. In other words, the political borders drawn in both the Near East and the Middle East; In fact, it is the main source of wars in the region.

These political borders were established under the leadership of Britain and France; It was drawn contrary to the historical-social realities of the region and its people. Therefore, from 1919 to the present day, there has been no shortage of war within these borders. There was no shortage of war in Kurdistan, there was no shortage of war in Arabia.

Imposed states system; makes war necessary. It is never possible to achieve a permanent peace unless these political borders and the system that draws these political borders change. This is also the basic demand of Kurdistan politics. After all, the alphabet of Kurdistan politics is to reject the existing state borders and become independent within its own historical-social borders.

Now, as long as Iran and Turkey remain as a single state within these borders, it is not possible for peace and freedom to come to this region. I look at the issue within the framework of these basic principles.

Key actors in the world

All the main actors in the world and the main actors in the region have long-term plans for Kurdistan. Our main problem is; Although the main actors in the world and the region have plans and calculations about Kurdistan, Kurdistan does not have a unified-strategic political plan. The current plans are primarily the political plans of the parties, at a higher level, fragmentary political plans, but Kurdistan’s; The lack of a common, national, strategic political plan is our main problem, both now and a hundred years ago. And today; Our political leaders and intellectuals need to put forward a unified political plan and create it. The main goal: Independent United Kurdistan. There is nothing more or less than this.

So, if we are going to wage a Kurdistan political struggle, its main strategic goal is; Independent United Kurdistan. This is a long-term fight. It’s not a fight that can happen overnight, but if you don’t have a general strategy plan, you can’t win the war. The overall strategic plan determines your tactics. Their cyclical behavior is determined by the general strategic plan. This general strategic plan is Independent United Kurdistan.

Now, for example, the main strategic plan of the Palestinians is Independent United Palestine. There are currently two and a half Palestinian states. But these still support the goal of an Independent United Palestine for 75 years, changing from time to time, that is, in the beginning; It was aimed at destroying Israel, but in recent years Palestinians in general have been advocating an Independent United Palestine.

Kurdistan politics should also be able to do this. Now Serhat said: “Palestinians have never had a Palestinian state.”. The Hebrews did not have a Hebrew state for 2,500 years, until 1948. And when the Hebrews went to Palestine, about 3100 years ago, there were Palestinians there. But those Palestinians were not the Palestinian Arabs of today. Let’s not dive into more historical issues. It is said that they were a tribe of Indo-European origin from Crete. When the Hebrews went there, Palestinian Arabs had also been there for 1,500 years. In other words, after the country of Palestine was conquered, there was gradual Arab immigration. They have also been there for 1500 years. That’s why I say: “I support the issue of Palestinian independence.” This is not supporting Hamas or supporting Fatah. It is the right of a people to live freely in their own land. I defend the Palestinians’ right to statehood. I also defend the right of the Hebrews to become a state. We are revolutionaries. The things we want for ourselves, we want for everyone in the world.

The problem stems from the fact that these two tribes, whose destinies are intertwined, are trying to kill each other. In other words, the Hebrews and the Palestinian Arabs could very well live as two neighboring states.

Existence of 22 Arab states

Now, the existence of 22 Arab states is, in general, sees as support to the Palestinian cause.
It’s just the opposite. The existence of 22 Arab states has put the Palestine issue in a deadlock. Because these 22 Arab states have been living on the Palestine issue for 75 years. And these; They don’t actually want peace or a two-state solution, but they pretend to want it. So, when Britain withdrew in 1948, a state of Israel and a state of Palestine would be established. Jordan occupied the West Bank. Egypt occupied Gaza. And they said there was no room for Israel. Israel remained because Israel is not Israel. Israel is America in the Middle East. The reason why Israel has survived these 75 years is because it is America in the Middle East.

Arab states have dragged the Palestinian movement into a dead end. At one point, Jordan attacked the Palestine Liberation Organization. Jordan killed hundreds of Palestinian militants. Syria did the same thing. Egypt did the same thing. The issue is within this system of states, It is not possible to solve this problem within provincial states. I’m trying to explain this. So everyone says the same thing; Well, Arabs have 22 states. But if these 22 states did not exist, by now; The Palestinian state neighboring Israel would have been established long ago. But these 22 Arab states, each establishing their own organization in Palestine and clashing with each other from time to time, is one of the main reasons why the Palestine issue has not been resolved in 75 years.

Türkiye has been doing politics through the Kurdish war for 100 years

Now we need to focus on Turkey. Türkiye has been doing politics through the Kurdish war for 100 years. In the 30 years between 1980 and 2010, the Turkish army learned to fight. There was no Turkish army capable of fighting in 1980. Turkey, with the experiences it gained from the Kurdistan war, has started to fight outside its borders since 2011. They are fighting in Syria, fighting in Azerbaijan, fighting in Iraq, fighting in Libya. And through this war, they started to establish an industrial-military complex in Turkey. In other words, these are UAVs, tanks and cannons. This is why they are producing these and opening up to the war market. Based on the US model; They are trying to create an industrial-military complex in Turkey. Because in order to be a sub-imperial state in the region, you need to have an industrial-military complex.

Turkey is insistent on the Kurdistan war. Turkey needs this war. So, as we all know, the PKK has not had a war against Turkey for the last 6-7 years. Turkey has a war against them. Through them, they are trying to destabilize both South Central Kurdistan and Southwestern Kurdistan and liquidate the local governments there. Look, there has been an Israel-Palestine issue for these 22 days. In these 22 days, Turkey took this as an opportunity and intensified its attacks in both Southwestern Kurdistan and Central Southern Kurdistan. They attack 2-3 places every day, martyring a few people.

Now, while Turkey is in such a war policy, Kurdish politics in Northwest Kurdistan is in an absurdly peaceful policy. So the enemy needs war. He is fighting you, imposing war on you. Don’t you call the enemy an enemy? “Let’s sit with them; “Well, let’s go to the parliament, sit down, talk, and solve this issue.” you say. The new Chairman of HDP spoke the other day and said: “If Turkey recognizes the autonomous structures in the southwest; “If it makes an agreement with the Kurds like this, it is actually in Turkey’s interest.” says. Kurdish politicians have been advising the state, which has been carrying out genocide in Kurdistan for 100 years. If you are very smart, look at yourself first!

In other words, you left the mountains and streets in Kurdistan to the state. Do you think the Turkish state need your wisdom? There are hundreds of universities in Turkey. They have thousands of professors. They have advisors who are experts in international relations, war and economic relations. You get up from the situation you are in and give advice to Turkey. If you are peaceful, you will grow, and we will grow with you. They do not understand the irreconcilable contradiction between Kurdistan and the Turkish state. They made this an issue that could be solved by talking and joking.

Now, in Northwest Kurdistan; The reason for this situation is this style of politics. There are 25 million Kurds in Northwest Kurdistan. The Turkish state has been bombing Southwest Kurdistan for more than a month. And not just military objectives; bombing hospitals, oil fields, power grids. There is no voice from 25 thousand Kurds out of 25 million. Why? Because the Turkish state is no longer viewed as an enemy, politically.

Now we are looking from Kurdistan. Since we are looking at it from Kurdistan, we need to look at the Hamas-Netanyahu conflict from this perspective. In other words, the Hebrews remained stateless for 2600 years and were dispersed to all four corners of the world. In 1948, when England withdrew, the Jewish population there was one third of the total population. Today the Hebrew population is the majority. In these 75 years, they went through an amazing nation-building process. They went through a process they called nation-building. Now, when the people of Kurdistan look at this war, they should look at this process they call Nation-building. Otherwise, you cannot become a state by taking Qatar and Dubai as examples. It is England that founded Qatar and Dubai. It is France that founded Lebanon. If you are going to install it, try to use this example.

Hamas, 360 square kilometers from 4 sides; They carried out a magnificent military operation in a place surrounded by land, air and sea. They was able to launch 5000 rockets at once and 5000 rockets in one night. Hamas was able to turn the underground into a military compound that is more formidable than the one above ground.

Now, it is not our job to support or not support this attack by Hamas. Our job is this: While they can do this in an area of 360 square km, why don’t you have such preparation in an area of, say, 100,000 square km or 200,000 square km? If the war spreads tomorrow, do you have any preparations for it? Will you join this war with Kalashnikovs? Why didn’t you use at least the 20-30 years we left behind to prepare for this war? Come on this is over, now sit down Let’s discuss: What can we do? What are our urgent needs? First, let’s realize that there is a world war. Then, let’s see that Kurdistan, with its four parts, is a front country of this world war. And on this ground let us prepare for war.

The talk about, democracy will come to Turkey, I don’t know; a separate democracy will come to Syria, a separate democracy will come to Iran. So let’s get rid of these fallacies. The important things are; The strategic goal of an independent United Kurdistan. Because when we do not take this goal as a basis, we cannot understand the world and the region within this war equation.
We would be tying our future to these occupying states; Northwest Kurdistan will say that if Türkiye becomes democratized, it would be better not to get involved in the war. They will say to Eastern Kurdistan or Iran that do not join the war, we will get into trouble if so. However, it is not the people of Kurdistan who should be afraid of this war. Those who should and are afraid of the spread of this war are the occupying states. If we are going to be a political subject in this war, we need to evaluate it within the framework of this logic and prepare accordingly.

Mahmur issue

Now this Mahmur issue is not understood correctly. Mahmur is already under the supervision of the United Nations. Officially, it is in the disputed territory and belongs to Baghdad. The place discussed there is Karachok Mountain. The place that PKK handed over to Hashd al-Shaabi and Iraqi forces is Karachok Mountain. Karachok Mountain is as strategic mountain for Kurdistan as Shengal and Hemrin Mountain. Three peshmerga were martyred in the conflict that broke out there. It was said that 11-12 Iraqi soldiers were killed.

Now the example given by Kek Serhat is a very important example. The relationship between Kadı Mıhemed and mela Mustafa Barzani is a very important example. But we need to pay attention to this there. Mele Mustafa went to Eastern Kurdistan and, despite Kadi Muhammed; “I will also be in power.” He didn’t say that. Mele Mustafa went and said to Kadı Mıhemmed: “Dear!” “I am here, my Peshmerges are at your service, let’s fight against the Shah together” said.

Now, the issue of Independent United Kurdistan does not require us to ignore the fact of our fragmented situation. And the political forces of one part when they are on onother part and having activities, they must cooperate with the political organizations there . They should not do anything that would harm the groups struggle in that part.

If it sounds like: “I have armed force. “I will also take Shengal, I will also close the passage from Southern Kurdistan to Eastern Kurdistan.” This is the the organisation agenda of pro party power. This is not pro national power.

In order to become a state, one must first want a state.

In order to become a state, one must first want a state. The Jews started 200 years ago. To establish a Hebrew state anywhere in the world. They even negotiated Cyprus with Abdulhamit for a while. So that we can establish a Hebrew state in Cyprus. He continued, after the second war, as a result of the war; With the agreement of the Soviets and the USA, they had a state of Israel.

The United States recognized the state of Israel 10 minutes after its declaration. The Soviet Union recognized the state of Israel one day later.

So, for something to happen, you must first want it. In these 75 years, Palestinians have fought both against Israel and against Arab states. When Anwar Sadat reached an agreement with Israel, Egypt tried to reach a compromise by selling the Palestinian cause. The Palestine Liberation Organization emphasized the independence of Palestine and opposed Egypt. Jordan tried to reach a compromise with Israel over the West Bank issue. The Palestine Liberation Organization also opposed it. This time, they went to Syria, they went to Lebanon. While escaping from one state, they felt obliged to go to the other state – that is also debatable – but in any case: “Independent Palestine!” they said.

In 1983, Israel entered Lebanon. They was about to liquidate all the guerrillas of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The Soviets and the USA intervened and transported Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian guerrillas to Cyprus by ships. It was a huge defeat for the Palestine Liberation Organization. But Yasser Arafat and Palestinian politicians and fighters said Independent Palestine in Lebanon as well. When they went to Cyprus, they said Independent Palestine. Even though they suffered a very heavy defeat.

PKK waged a war between 1984-1993. It entered the ceasefire process, but it still said Independent Kurdistan. The leader of PKK was captured. So PKK guerrillas were in their own positions. They were in their own positions both in the Northwest and on the border between the Northwest and the Central South. Since Öcalan was captured, the PKK gave up the idea of becoming a state. And to explain this abandonment of the idea of statehood, they come up with so-called: “The era of the nation state has passed.”. Then they came with the Democratic Republic, then Democratic Modernity. Democratic Confederation. Also Self-Governments and the Cantons came.

Now I want you to compare these two; The Palestinians suffered a devastating defeat. They were taken to Cyprus from the lands where they fought. But they did not give up their goal of an independent Palestine, neither in the lands they fought in nor in Cyprus. A leader of the PKK was captured. All of his men ware in their position. As son their leader where captured they gave up their goal of becoming a state.

This is not a military defeat. This is an ideological defeat. It means admitting that you have been defeated ideologically. 30 years of saying : “Independent Kurdistan!”. “Actually, it is wrong, the nation state is a bad thing, even if they gave us the state on a silver platter, we would not want a state.” they said.

When you compare now, you need to compare from here. If you do not have an Independent United Kurdistan goal, will the world come and set a goal for you? If you already say that you do not want to become a state, the United Nations will say, “Oh my goodness, come on, should we give you a state?” You will want it first. I say this for this reason; In other words, it is not correct to equate them as PKK, PUK, PDK. In this brodcast, at the moment, I am not going to evaluate every each of those party . But they are not the same; First of all, PKK is a party that has given up on territorial politics. It is a party that has given up on land-based politics. National unity; can only be achieved with the aim of land-based, national power.

The world is states world

Now, Serhat, like this: “Two separate meetings were held in Lausanne.” was said. I’ll say for both, if you; If you are not against the current borders, if you are not defending Independent United Kurdistan, what harm does Lausanne do to you? Why are you against Lausanne? If your main strategic goals are to democratize Turkey or want an autonomous region in Turkey, Lausanne does not prevent this.

If you are successful in Southwest Kurdistan and will stay with in the Syrian regime, why are you against Lausanne? Lausanne does not prevent this.

In fact, Lausanne does not hinder the federative structure in Central-South Kurdistan. What Lausanne did is to disintegrate Kurdistan, divide Kurdistan into four parts with five separate state borders and usurp the Kurds’ right to become a state.

If you do not have problem with these limits. Then you don’t have a problem with Lausanne. It is complete hypocrisy for organizations that have no problem with borders and do not set nationalization, the statehood of Kurdistan, as their main strategic goal, to be against Lausanne. We are literate, we also read Lausanne. We know what was done in Lausanne. There is no article in Lausanne that prevents Turkey’s democratization. On the contrary, there are substances that encourage it.

If you are really against Lausanne; First, you have to be against existing state borders. Then you have to defend the statehood of Kurdistan. If you don’t have this; If you hold conferences about Lausanne in 2 places or 132 places, you will not achieve any political results.

The world is the states world. If you want to be a political actor, you will be asked for a centralized state.

Nations appear on the stage of history through states. Here’s what Serhat says: “There are 22 states behind them.” Yes, the existence of these 22 states was effective in bringing the Palestinian issue to the United Nations, but what was the result? Palestinians did not give up their goal of independence by making all kinds of sacrifices.

If we want the United Nations to see us, we must first aim for statehood. We need to say this clearly. In other words, it is something that has been on the lips of some Kurdish politicians and Kurdish intellectuals: “There is an Independent Kurdistan in the hearts of every Kurd.” they say. If you have had Independent Kurdistan in your heart for 150 years, why doesn’t it touch your tongue? How will you realize Independent Kurdistan when it does not hit your language, when you do not define yourself through this strategic goal? Therefore, this is one of the main obstacles to national unity. It is an organization aiming at national unity, national congress and de facto statehood.

The Israelites had it. Before becoming a state, the Hebrews had such organizations that acted like states. Now, if we do not aim for statehood, if we do not defend the unity of Kurdistan, that is, if we take the state borders as our basis, why do the Northern Kurds go and become martyrs in Southwest Kurdistan? It is not Turkey’s territory. If your struggle is limited to the given state borders, the demand for a national congress is already hypocritical. In other words, it is not possible to describe concepts according to their daily situations and fill them as you wish.

National unity is achieved through national goals. National goals have been nationalization goals for the last 300 years and 400 years. You can only appear on the stage of history by becoming a state. Now we need to discuss these. This cannot be achieved without making progress here. Kek Serhat said it very correctly: “Hashd al-Shaabi is more dangerous to us than DAESH.”

In Shengal, it is the PKK members who brought Hashd al-Shaabi into Shengal and then brought the Iraqi flag. And they boasted this on television: “If there were Peshmerga, the Iraqi flag would not be able to enter here. “Thanks to us, the Iraqi flag flew in Shengal.” They said. Now, how will national unity be achieved with this consciousness, this political style? National unity is clear. So this is not something that requires such theoretical in-depth science. The symbol of national unity is the national state. If you do not aim to become a state, you will not demand national unity.

Therefore, what is happening in Palestine and Israel; We look from Kurdistan and see the struggle for Kurdistan’s independence; What lessons should we learn from this?

Secondly; If this war spreads, where should we take part, how should we take part? this is my own thoughts I said.

Spread of war

Now, as for the spread of the war and the issue of US ships. In my opinion, the United States does not want this war to spread at this time.

There was a project that the United States was trying to realize together with Israel. Türkiye was also included in this. You may have noticed. Both Türkiye; who tried to establish good relations with Saudi Arabia, Imaraat, Iran and Israel, and they were also trying to establish relations with Israel, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states and Egypt with a project they called the Ibrahim agreement. This is the main position of the USA. And this position is against Russia and China.

The issue here is both energy sources and energy routes. There are several alternative energy pathways. For example, in the Armenia-Azerbaijan war; Israel seriously supported Azerbaijan. They also gave weapons and diplomatic support. There is a Zangezur corridor there. That corridor is actually a corridor passing through Red Kurdistan. But since we were stateless and did not think of becoming a state, Armenia and Azerbaijan fought over Red Kurdistan. Iran considers the Zangezur corridor a major threat to itself.

China’s; There is a road, a belt project. This is an alternative energy routes project. Therefore, the USA was trying to realize this project with these Abraham Accords and Turkey’s efforts to gradually approach the West again. Iran dynamited it. And all these, namely the Zangezur corridor that will bypass Iran and the Abrahamic agreements that will bypass Palestine, isolated both of them. Iran entered the agenda together with Hamas.

Current political results show that these actions are successful for now. We’ll see what happens next, later on. In other words, Iran is on the world’s agenda again. Moreover, the two-state solution has once again entered the agenda of the world, the United Nations, China, the USA, and everyone else regarding Palestine. But war is a dangerous thing. The Netanyahu government is trying to achieve all its political goals by using this as an opportunity. This is not Israel’s, I mean, I don’t know whether the Israeli state fully agrees with Netanyahu or not, but we are reading this through the Netanyahu government. That’s why Egypt says that the borders of Jordan, Lebanon and Syria will change. On the one hand, since Israel is the USA in the Middle East, USA will take the Israel side.

But on the other hand, if you ask me; USA does not want this war to spread at this stage. War is a dangerous thing. You can start the war, but you can’t control the war once it starts. This war can spread beyond the will of the warring parties. It may also spread due to triggering by China and Russia. We will see whether it will spread or not, so the ground operation has not started yet. Israel is taking a roll call. So, “if I make a ground move, how will Hamas respond to me, from where and with what kind of weapons?”

This military intelligence probably also exists in Hamas. They also give a limited response to these attacks of Israel. They answer without showing all the weapons in their hands or showing their location. Can it spread? It can spread. Our duty; If this spreads, what will we do, where will we take sides? What will be our political goals?

To be alternative

Politics is the art of being alternative and producing alternatives. United States has problems with Turkey. It was also in 2003 too. In other words, the same problem was there during the Iraq invasion. It was there in 2013 too. There is also in 2023. However; Politics is a matter of reason. In other words, in order for USA to sacrifice Turkey, it must produce another alternative in Turkey and the region. This alternative is actually, under normal circumstances, Kurdish politics. And without creating such an alternative, USA would not sacrifice a NATO country or a NATO member state. Who could be an alternative to the Turkish state in Northwestern Kurdistan, which is Turkey? Politics in Northwest Kurdistan, is the politics in Northwest Kurdistan such an alternative? Not yet. In other words, the political style currently dominant in Northwest Kurdistan, PKK-HDP, now called HEDEP, defends the unity and integrity of Turkey. They says they has no problem with given limits. Could this be an alternative? No. In this case, USA will not want to sever its relations with the Turkish state until it produces an alternative policy for itself here and finds an alternative. That declaration of 100 people you mentioned is a warning, a threat, a threat that means we are looking for alternatives.

Kurdistan politics should be an alternative to the Turkish state. You cannot be an alternative to the Turkish state by advocating the democratization of the Turkish state.

You will also be a democratic element within the Turkish state. However, you can be an alternative by fighting against existens of Turkish state in Kurdistan. So, at the end, if you are successful, if you are going to be a component of Turkey, why should the United States leave the Turkish state and do business with you?

Not only for United States, that is, for all states in the world, there is no principle in interstate relations. It is a relationship of interest. On this relationship; So, now, for example, we need to pay attention to this: In the first Gulf war, they did not destroy Saddam even though they could have destroyed him.
Because there was no alternative to the United States in Iraq.

After 12 years, after framing both the Shiite politics in Iraq and the politics in Southern Kurdistan as alternatives, they invaded Iraq and overthrew Saddam. And you know. The reason why the conflicts between PUK and PDK ended is this intervention of USA.

“I will intervene in Iraq” “I want to do business with you” “I can’t do it if you guys fight each other” It is this attitude of the USA that brought PDK and PUK together in 1998. Now, the United States is an imperialist state. It is a state that protects its own interests both in Kurdistan and around the world. Otherwise, it is not a state that reaches out to the Kurds because it admires them.

In this region, the Kurdistan issue is also an interstate issue. First of all, it is an issue that concerns four different states, generally all states in the world.

It is a goal that will rebuild the Near East; Independent United Kurdistan.

Now, if you don’t want this yourself, who will come and do it for you? So if you say: “I will democratize Turkey.” and USA wants this, and so does Europe. So what does that mean to them? In other words, both USA and Europe try to do this through the AKP. So between 2002 and 2013, they tried to do this with the AKP, but it didn’t work. 12 years later, they tries to do it through Babacan, they tries to do it through CHP. So, if the democratization of Turkey is your main strategic goal, why should USA do business with you? There is already a state who do business with.

USA has not disregarded Turkey either. However, USA will want to turn Turkey into a part of its own imperial plans. If Türkiye resists this; USA will look for an alternative to this. They will either look for it within Turkey or within the Kurdish politics that is struggling for independence. But if you do not already have a struggle for independence, if you are successful in the end, if Turkey will be democratized, Iran will be democratized, Iraq and Syria will be democratized, why should the USA invest in this? He invests in Turks, Arabs and Persians and deals with them.

Therefore, we need to see and understand that USA is doing this and that. What are Russia’s strategic calculations? It is trying to protect the existing state borders in the region. They are trying to maintain the status quo. We need to see all these, but we need to have our own political goals. In other words, if you do not have your own political goals and cannot provide the ability to represent with this, you cannot benefit from it even if the world turns upside down. Indeed it happened; The First World War happened and it was turned upside down. Instead of Kurdistan winning, it became four parts when it was two.

World War II happened and the world was turned upside down again. Autonomy was gained in Eastern Kurdistan in 1946, but it was not preserved either.

Now it is World War Three. If you want to be a political actor in this Third World War, you will aim for statehood. You will act like a state, you will try to understand and transform both the world and your country with the state’s mind. When this does not happen, the Third World War will come and go and you cannot ensure it. Therefore, it occasionally comes face to face with the US-Turkish state in Northwestern Kurdistan.
For Northwest Kurdistan to benefit from this, we are not pawns of USA or part of the plans of USA. We have our own plan. This is Independent United Kurdistan. Through this plan, you will understand what USA is trying to do and determine policy on it. You will understand what Russia is trying to do.

First of all, we need to get rid of this; Partial politics does not produce results. There are four occupying states. These four occupying states also have relations with all states in the world. It is not possible to achieve success in the Kurdistan issue in one piece. You can make gains, you can achieve autonomy, you can achieve federation, but the Kurdistan issue is not an issue that can be solved within a single part.

We need to act and look at this with awareness. So I said: “Let’s be a part of US plans.” I’m not saying that, but if we are going to be a political actor, if we want to ensure the independence and unity of our country, we need to understand the political strategies of the main actors in the world and impose our own strategy on them.

Now, one of our main problems, both in the Southwest and in the Mid-South, is this: If the military alliance, the military cooperation, with United States does not include political cooperation, sooner or later you will act as a mercenary. So, for example, in the fight against ISIS in Central Southern Kurdistan, by the US’s oppression, we had to fight together with in Hashd al-Shaabi and the Iraqi army, not as the “Southern Kurdistan army”.

To eradicate ISIS from Mosul to Ramadiye, from Shengal in Iraq. But the Southern Kurdistan administration did not put forward a political precondition for this military alliance: “I have now removed ISIS from here. The Iraqi state will become stronger.”At least you have to protect my airspace.” but the did not say it.

I do not know how many US soldiers were killed in Southwest Kurdistan. Thirteen thousand Kurdish youth were martyred in the fight against ISIS.

When Turkey entered Serêkaniyê, when it entered Afrin, US President said: “That is not my area of operation.” Now, if you are making a military alliance with USA or getting a share of the oil extracted there, these are temporary. If you are going to do this job, you will impose your own political goals.

There is no Kurdish political target left in Southwestern Kurdistan anyway. In southwestern Kurdistan, where the Kurds are in majority, there is Dêrika Hemko and Dırbesiye. Qamishlo, Serêkaniyê, Afrîn, including Qamishlo, were cleared of Kurds. In other words, it is necessary to think in terms of Kurdistan and try to agree on Kurdish goals. National unity should only be discussed through these Kurdish goals. If you do not have political Kurdistan goals, national unity is on your lips to deceive. So why should I unite with Southwestern Kurdistan and Eastern Kurdistan to democratize Turkey? If I am to be united; I will unite to remove Turkey from Kurdistan.

Before destroying the police stations in Turkey, Iran and Syria, we need to destroy the police stations in the minds of Kurdish politics.

Americans also had police stations in mind. The Vietnamese broke it.

The French also had police stations in mind. It was the Algerians who destroyed it.

Now if there are Hebrews in Israel who support the independence of Palestine; This is also a result of the Palestinians’ insistence on independence.

Therefore, Turkish society is a state society. Türkiye is not the nationalization of a nation. It is the creation of a nation by a state. What we call Turkish society is the society of this state. Therefore, the main concern of Turkish society is to protect its own state.

We; First, let’s break bounderies in our own minds and stop saying every once in a while that if we agree, Turkey will be a great state. If you have the power, save your own country first. To the extent that we adopt and implement an independent thought and an independent style of politics, the police stations in Turkey and our minds can be burned down. Those in Syria, Iran and Iraq may be destroyed. That’s why I say we should mind our own business.
